HAR KI PAURI GHAT - HARIDWAR (UTTRAKHAND)

Har Ki Pauri located in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Har Ki Pauri is a world famous ghat on the banks of Ganga River in Haridwar. 'Har' means God and 'Pauri' means Steps. This ghat holds a major landmark in the holy city of Haridwar. Every year a large number of tourists, devotees come here for the blessings of Holy Ganga by offering their prayers.

HISTORY OF HAR KI PAURI

The construction of Har Ki Pauri is credited to King Vikramaditya. It was built in the memory of Vikramaditya's brother. It is believed that the drop of 'Amrit' fell over that spot. Legend's told us that Haridwar has been sanctified by the presence of three eternal God's ; Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.

FESTIVALS 

A large number of tourists and Devotees gather here for the festival of Kumbh Mela. That is held here once every twelve years and Ardh Kumbh Mela that takes place every six years. 

Kumbh Mela is assumed as the largest gathering of pilgrims in the entire world.

Festival of Vaisakhi, Diwali, Chhath are also celebrate here.

Best time to visit Har Ki Pauri is during Summer Months from March till July.
